In the exhibition Collage, the Kunst(Zeug)Haus Rapperswil-Jona is showing three Swiss artists of different ages who are reinterpreting the medium of the collage—one of the fundamental artistic methods of modernism and postmodernism—in entirely individual and surprising ways.
Three artistic positions are being show side by side on nearly a thousand square meters: the collages on paper by Sabine Hertig (b. 1982), abstract photographic works with mysterious objects by Kyra Tabea Balderer (b. 1984, and collages from found materials such as tapestry embroideries, carpets, and wood beds by Reto Leibundgut (b. 1966). The three artists share an artistic urgency to connect very different materials and worlds. All of the works are created by craft means: cutting paper, painting and joining pieces of work and leftover materials lying around, or destroying and sewing together again tapestries and carpets.
With works by: Sabine Hertig, Kyra Tabea Balderer, Reto Leibundgut
